Book Week will take place on Monday 19th to Friday 23rd August. This year the theme is “Reading is my secret power.” During this week, each class will go on an excursion to the Walkerston Library. The students will be shown around the library and will be read to by the local librarian.
On Friday 23rd August, St John’s will be participating in the Walkerston Book Week Parade. Students are encouraged to dress as their favourite book character (maybe based on the theme) and they will parade down Dutton Street. The parade will commence at 9:30 a.m. from the Walkerston State School. Students are expected to be at school as per normal on the Friday morning. We will all assemble in the Hall and walk to the State School together.
2020 Enrolments for Prep are currently being taken for the 2020 school year. If you have a child due to commence Prep next year born July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015, please collect an enrolment package from the office. Interviews with existing families will commence at the end of Term 2. Interviews for new families will be done early Term 3.
Enrolments for Years 1—6 are also currently being taken for Semester 2 2019 and for 2020. When returning the enrolment form, please ensure there is a certified copy of your child’s birth certificate, baptismal certificate & immunisation records. It is essential that we have our current families accounted for so that we know the number of places available for new families.
Our school office opens from 8:15 a.m. and closes at 3:15 p.m. Monday to Friday. Our office staff work the following days:
Sharon Andersen (Administration secretary): Monday to Thursday
Judy McNichol (Finance secretary): Wednesday to Friday.
Further, our phone system is operational from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Outside of these times the phone system will be diverted to message bank.
